Background

The Institute for Livestock and the Environment (ILE) was founded in 2008 at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Fort Collins is an agricultural hub resting at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and has shown to be the perfect niche for ILE. This institute has been serving as an integral role in breaking down institutional barriers. ILE brings together faculty members with diverse expertise to tackle complicated problems facing livestock industry and impacting the environment on which we all depend. ILE members come from across Colorado State University’s system, including the University Extension, to find interdisciplinary solutions on a local and global level. Our faculty affiliates have a proven track record of conducting innovative and cutting-edge research at local, regional and international scales. Since our inception, ILE members have brought over $16 million in research money to CSU.
